EFCC’s Failure to Serve Documents Delays N152m Victoria Island Property Hearing
A Lagos High Court in Ikoyi has adjourned proceedings in a N152 million property dispute over two Victoria Island apartments. The hearing was stalled after the EFCC failed to serve its final written address as ordered by the court. Claimant Olukayode Olusanya and his firm, Oak Homes Limited, accuse engineer Anthony Ugbebor of trespassing on the second-floor units. Counsel to the claimant reported that the EFCC declined to accept court papers at its Ikoyi office gate. EFCC counsel confirmed filing the address but apologised for not serving it. Justice Akingbola George then directed immediate service and rescheduled the adoption of final written addresses to April 22, 2026. Earlier EFCC testimony clarified that the agency’s probe arose from alleged criminal breach of trust. The dispute was later deemed civil, prompting advice to recover submitted bank drafts rather than force a sale of the apartments.
