How I’ve Navigated Long-Distance Marriage While Raising Twins on My Own
I never expected to spend most of my marriage raising our children alone in Nigeria while my husband lived abroad. When I discovered I was pregnant—then learned I was carrying twins—the thought of facing it alone felt overwhelming. Long-distance marriage brought deep loneliness and bouts of postpartum depression. Video calls and family support helped, but nothing replaces physical presence. There were moments I nearly considered divorce, yet my husband’s constant reassurance kept me going. This journey forced me to become fiercely independent. I learned to juggle chores, childcare and my own emotional needs mostly by myself. Through calls and video chats, we still parent together, and our strong bond is why I don’t regret staying.
