Nigeria’s Gas Production Jumps to 7.63B Scf/Day

Nigeria’s gross gas output rose to 7.63 billion standard cubic feet per day in 2024, up from 6.83 billion in 2023. The Presidency confirmed the figures at the Nigerian-British Chamber of Commerce Energy Day 2026. Special Adviser on Oil and Gas, Mrs Olu Verheijen, shared the update in Lagos. This increase followed targeted presidential directives to boost deep-water, non-associated gas production and improve midstream infrastructure. Over four billion dollars in international oil company divestments were redirected into deep-water and integrated gas projects. Contracting times have fallen from 36 months to around 14, with a goal of six months.
