The Great Commission: Jesus’ Call to All Nations
In Matthew 28:16–20, Jesus meets his eleven disciples on a mountain in Galilee. He declares that all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to him. He then commissions them to go and make disciples of every nation. They are to baptize believers in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit and teach obedience to all he has commanded. This passage lays the foundation for the Christian mission. It also offers comfort in Jesus’ promise: “I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
