NYSC Reforms: Minister Clarifies No Fabric Decision Yet, Adire Only an Example
The Minister for Youth Development has denied that Adire has been approved for the NYSC uniform. Media reports had claimed the tie-dye fabric would replace the current attire under the ongoing NYSC reforms. He explained that he only cited Adire and Ankara as possible options during stakeholder consultations. No final decision has been made on the fabric or design for corps members’ uniforms. Olawande said any new uniform must reflect a professional outlook, national identity, durability, functionality, cost-effectiveness and national pride. He urged Nigerians to focus on the broader NYSC reforms aimed at improving employability, promoting entrepreneurship, strengthening national integration, enhancing service delivery and easing the transition from education to productive careers.
