Kebbi to Sponsor Mass Wedding for 300 Couples with ₦250,000 Dowry Each

Kebbi State Government will support 300 couples in its third mass wedding ceremony. Beneficiaries were selected from 21 local government areas and 225 wards after a screening process. The initiative is open to all eligible indigenes regardless of religious or ethnic background. Each groom will receive ₦250,000 in dowry under Islamic law. Couples will undergo compulsory medical screening and local committees will verify that grooms have reliable income. The ceremony in Birnin Kebbi will feature the governor, Islamic clerics and other dignitaries. The First Lady’s foundation will provide beds, mattresses, food items and household essentials. A monitoring committee will follow up on the couples’ welfare after the event.
