Nigerian Man in Toronto Arrested for Alleged Child Sexual Assault at Grocery Store

Toronto police have charged 35-year-old Idris Olajide Oladejo, a Nigerian-born resident, with one count each of sexual assault and sexual interference. Officers say the alleged incident occurred on Sunday, June 21 at about 7 p.m. in a grocery store near Victoria Park Avenue and St. Clair Avenue East. A civilian chased the suspect after the victim, a child, was reportedly assaulted while shopping with their parents. Police released an initial description—man in a green T-shirt, dark Adidas shorts and pink Crocs—before identifying and arresting Oladejo on June 23. He is due in court the same day at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre. According to the Toronto Police Service, sexual assault involves any form of unwanted sexual contact, including kissing, grabbing or penetration.

It's concerning that a busy evening shopping trip could go unmonitored enough for such a crime to happen without immediate intervention.
