Sanwo-Olu to Receive Lagos Legacy Icon Award at 3rd Eko Mi Awards — 1 of 2
1 / 2

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu will be honoured with the Lagos Legacy Icon Award at the 3rd edition of the Eko Mi Awards on Friday, July 17, 2026. The ceremony, themed “Lagos, Where Legends Are Made,” will take place at Shell Hall, MUSON Centre. The organisers say this award recognises the governor’s leadership, good governance and nation-building efforts since he assumed office in 2019. They credit his administration with positioning Lagos as a model state in Nigeria and across Africa. Other honourees include Edo State Governor Monday Okhebelo as “Friend of Lagos,” Hon. James Faleke, Hon. Olulade (Eleniyan), Lagos Head of Service Bode Agoro and Commissioner for Environment Tokunbo Wahab. Corporate bodies such as NAFDAC, LAMATA, OPay, Access Bank and MTN Nigeria will also be celebrated. Guests will enjoy performances by singer 9ice and talking drummer Ara.

I'm not convinced that one award ceremony can truly reflect the real impact of governance in Lagos; recognition often misses grassroots realities.
