Ex-Super Eagles Defender Udeze: I Nearly Slapped an NFF Official Over Half-Paid Bonus
Former Super Eagles defender Ifeanyi Udeze has revealed a heated moment with a Nigeria Football Federation official after a match bonus dispute. He recalled that in 2003/2004, each player was promised a $5,000 bonus. Instead of the full amount, the NFF representative offered only $2,500 up front and asked them to sign first before settling the balance later. Udeze said the official came to his room with a pen, expecting him to sign for the partial payment. He refused and insisted that the captain and coaching staff be involved before any signatures. “Seriously, no joke, I almost slapped him,” Udeze said on a recent football podcast.
