Maliyo Games and ASU Launch Pan-African AI and Game Development Training

Maliyo Games and ASU Launch Pan-African AI and Game Development Training

Maliyo Games has teamed up with Arizona State University to empower young Africans with skills in AI and game development. The program, launched in Lagos, offers a micro-credential curriculum with practical training and globally recognized certifications. Under the GameUp Africa initiative, participants gain industry-relevant instruction, hands-on project experience, and stackable digital badges issued by ASU’s Endless Games and Learning Lab. Since early 2026, over 150 credentials have been awarded to the first cohort of developers. ASU’s Lab director praised the creativity of African talent, and Maliyo Games’ CEO highlighted the partnership’s role in building a sustainable gaming ecosystem. Trainees like Ibrahim Karl report that live project work deepens their skills and boosts their prospects in the digital economy. With a goal to certify 10,000 learners across Africa, the collaboration will expand infrastructure, develop curricula, and create a physical hub for innovation. Africa’s gaming industry is projected to exceed $5 billion by 2030, driven by a youthful, tech-savvy population.
