Resident Doctors Launch Indefinite Nationwide Strike Over Allowance Suspension
The National Association of Resident Doctors has declared a total and indefinite strike across all federal teaching hospitals starting at midnight on Tuesday, April 7, 2026. In its statement, NARD accused the Federal Government of triggering this crisis by failing to reverse the decision to discontinue the Professional Allowance Template. The association also highlighted other unresolved welfare and remuneration demands that remain outstanding. Patient care at teaching hospitals and tertiary health institutions nationwide is expected to be severely disrupted until the government addresses these grievances to the doctors’ satisfaction.
