AY Questions Church After Programme Invitation Was Withdrawn Over Public Perception

Nigerian comedian AY Makun says a church withdrew an invitation for him to participate in an upcoming programme because of concerns about public perception. AY said he had stepped away from church during a difficult period marked by negative stories about him online, but stressed that he never lost his faith. He later joined another church, where he said he was warmly received. While he accepted the decision, AY questioned whether public opinion should outweigh a person’s relationship with God. He urged Christians and church leaders to remember that the church should be a place of grace, truth and restoration for people facing difficult moments.
