Liam Payne’s 9-Year-Old Son Named Sole Heir to $29M Estate

Liam Payne’s 9-Year-Old Son Named Sole Heir to $29M Estate

The late singer Liam Payne has left his entire estate, valued at over $29 million, to his nine-year-old son, Bear. Court filings from May confirm Bear is the sole beneficiary. Some funds will be available now, but the bulk of the money will be held in trust until Bear turns 18. Payne’s former partner, Cheryl, and attorney Richard Mark Bray are named as estate administrators with limited authority. Documents value Payne’s UK assets at about $38 million before debts. Under UK inheritance rules, children inherit if there is no surviving spouse or civil partner. Payne died at 31 in October 2024 after a balcony accident.

How do you feel about a nine-year-old inheriting such a huge estate? Do trusts really protect a child that young?

It's interesting that the estate is entirely left to Bear but most funds remain locked until age 18.

I'm not sure setting such a strict trust is always best for a kid's emotional well-being in the long run.

Parents leaving sizable inheritances should consider phased distributions tied to milestones and financial education support.
