Super Eagles’ Osayi-Samuel Blasts ‘Invisible Hands’ After 99-Point Fenerbahçe Snub

Super Eagles’ Osayi-Samuel Blasts ‘Invisible Hands’ After 99-Point Fenerbahçe Snub — 1 of 3
1 / 3

Bright Osayi-Samuel has spoken out about the “injustices” he witnessed at Fenerbahçe during their 2023/24 Süper Lig campaign. Despite an incredible 99 points and just one defeat, the Yellow Canaries lost the title to Galatasaray’s record-breaking 102 points. Former manager İsmail Kartal had blamed “invisible hands off the field” for denying them the trophy. Osayi-Samuel said he understood the club’s frustration after seeing some refereeing decisions up close. He described it as a “bizarre situation” to earn 99 points and still miss out. He added that players could only focus on their game when other factors were out of their hands. Since leaving Turkey, the Super Eagles winger joined an English Championship side last summer. He has made 26 appearances this season, providing one assist.

What do you think Osayi-Samuel meant by 'invisible hands' affecting Fenerbahçe's title race?

I agree, he probably means off-field influences or referees quietly tipping the balance against them.

Maybe he wasn't suggesting a full-blown conspiracy but more like patchy officiating or bad scheduling luck.

It's odd a team drops just one game and still misses out after reaching 99 points.

Calling it 'injustice' feels dramatic—sometimes football campaigns hinge on small margins, not secret maneuvers.

Fenerbahçe should analyze where they slipped up strategically this season instead of blaming off-field factors.
