Understanding “The Day and Hour Unknown” (Matthew 24:36–51)
In this passage Jesus warns that no one knows the hour of His return—not the angels or even the Son, but only the Father. He compares the coming of the Son of Man to the days of Noah, when life went on as usual until the flood arrived. Jesus urges believers to stay alert and ready, using the example of a homeowner guarding against a thief at night. He then tells of a faithful servant who is rewarded for faithful stewardship and a wicked servant who faces harsh judgment. These verses challenge us to live faithfully and responsibly while awaiting Christ’s return, knowing it will come when we least expect.
