Mahrez Confident Algeria Will Overcome Switzerland and Go Deep in World Cup 2026

Algeria captain Riyad Mahrez says the Desert Foxes are determined to make a deep run at the 2026 World Cup. After a 3-0 defeat to Argentina, they rallied to beat Jordan 2-1 and draw 3-3 with Austria. Mahrez insists his side aims for more than just group-stage survival. “We want to go as far as possible—not just for ourselves, but for our families and our country,” he said. He also celebrated scoring twice against Austria, fulfilling a personal goal. Algeria will face Switzerland in the Round of 32 in Vancouver this Friday.
