How the Myth of Whiteness Created Modern Racism

How the Myth of Whiteness Created Modern Racism — 1 of 9
1 / 9

The “White Box” is an illusion created to claim divine authority over the world. Anglo-Saxons and Basques were once regional tribes. They invented a race to unite power and exclude outsiders. This illusion relies on rigid borders. The One-Drop Rule shows its fragility. Any trace of other ancestry—no matter how small—destroys your “white” status. Even great Mediterranean empires were retrofitted with Nordic features to keep the myth alive. Today, this system still rules our minds in Nigeria. We bleach our skin and buy blonde wigs to chase an impossible ideal. We wear heavy Western suits in tropical heat and power air conditioners just to fit in. We legislate and govern under foreign models designed by those who locked us out. We can reclaim our power—and our Naira—by investing in local resources. Skip toxic bleaching creams and choose shea butter. Trade hot suits for flowing traditional attire. Keep your spending within the community to build local industries. Reject the White Box and build true cultural and economic sovereignty.

What factors turned simple tribal identities like the Anglo-Saxons and Basques into a so-called White race to consolidate power?

Could you clarify whether you're examining legal, economic, or cultural steps that merged those tribes into a broader 'white' identity?

It's striking how the One-Drop Rule exposes the shaky logic behind a supposedly pure racial category.

Absolutely, that rule really shows how flimsy the idea of a 'pure' race was.

Surely religion and economic factors played bigger roles than an invented White Box illusion alone.
