Ayodele Peters Accuses Senate of Deepening Nigeria’s Political and Economic Crisis
Political economist Otunba Ayodele Peters says senators are to blame for Nigeria’s worsening political and economic challenges. He accuses them of letting greed and private interests shape the leadership of the National Assembly. Speaking on a public affairs programme, he pointed to rising insecurity, inflation, unemployment and dwindling public trust. He argued that vote-buying in the contest for Senate President undermined legislative oversight and produced weak leadership. Peters warned that leaders chosen through bribery focus on recovering expenses rather than funding critical public projects. He urged Nigerians to demand transparency, accountability and integrity in choosing democratic leaders.
