WAEC Delays Leave Oyo Students Writing WASSCE into the Night

WAEC Delays Leave Oyo Students Writing WASSCE into the Night

The Oyo State Government has condemned the late arrival of WAEC exam materials that forced many candidates to sit for WASSCE papers well past normal hours. In several centres across Ogbomoso and Saki, Government Objective and Agricultural Science Practical papers arrived hours behind schedule, with some students still writing as late as 8:11 PM. A similar delay occurred the day before during the Mathematics Objective exam. Education officials warned that these disruptions cause needless stress, anxiety and security risks. They have urged WAEC to reschedule any exam paper that does not reach centres by 4 PM to safeguard candidates’ welfare. The state government pledged ongoing dialogue with WAEC and other stakeholders to prevent further delays and ensure exams run under safe, conducive conditions.

How do you think the late WAEC materials arrival will affect students' performance and stress levels in those centres?

True, students likely feel more pressure and fatigue when exams stretch late into the night.

It's odd that such critical exam papers still face logistical hiccups despite repeated warnings from local authorities.

Are these delays really down to local authorities, or might other issues be causing the hold-up?

I get the frustration, but maybe some centres lacked proper coordination rather than WAEC alone being at fault.

Exam officials should implement tighter tracking systems and emergency backups to ensure materials arrive hours before each paper begins.
