When N5, N10 and N20 Notes Go Unwanted: My Small Change Dilemma
I have piles of N5, N10, N20 and N50 notes stashed in my car and at home. I rarely use the lower denominations since they can’t buy much. Whenever I get them as change, I dump them in my car. I mostly take out the N5, N10 and N20 notes to buy sachet water. The N50 remains the most accepted denomination, so I rely on it instead. I decided to clear my small notes by spending them on everyday items. To my surprise, shop owners and vendors keep rejecting the N5, N10 and N20 notes. It worries me that these lower denominations may soon become useless. What do you think?
