NSCDC BUSTS BADAGRY ‘BABY FACTORY’ – 28 Women and Children Rescued

NSCDC BUSTS BADAGRY ‘BABY FACTORY’ – 28 Women and Children Rescued

The NSCDC Lagos Command uncovered a suspected baby factory in Okuju-Ilado, Badagry, rescuing 28 victims aged 18 to 35. Among them were 17 pregnant women and 10 children. Two suspects were arrested after intelligence led officers to raid the large apartment complex at midnight. Investigators say the ring lured women through Facebook and financial inducements, then confined them indoors under strict conditions. Officials will hand over both victims and suspects to NAPTIP for further action. One suspect confirmed the operation moved from Ikorodu in January, while a victim said she chose the facility after being abandoned by the man who impregnated her. Community leaders noticed the occupants never left their compound and raised the alarm only when NSCDC made its move.

Absolutely, offering trauma counselling, vocational training and community support would help them regain stability.

Before planning support, shouldn't we ask why security forces missed this baby farm earlier?

It's alarming that a large apartment complex in Badagry could house such a scheme unnoticed until midnight raid revealed the truth.

I get the impact of the bust, but this single operation won't end trafficking networks without tighter border controls and community vigilance.

Neighbourhood watches must liaise with NSCDC and local NGOs to quickly flag suspicious activities and support rescued women and children effectively.
