Wase APC Members Reject Two-Decade Stronghold, Call for Zoning to Restore Democracy
A coalition of APC members from the six wards of Bashar District in Wase LGA has rejected a two-decade monopoly over the House of Representatives seat. They say the prolonged tenure of Ahmed Idris has frozen political mobility and sidelined emerging leaders. The group met under the banner of Wase Concerned Patriots Citizens for Zoning. They argue that institutionalising zoning within the local party structure will ensure fair rotation of offices and broader inclusion. They have called on all political actors in Wase LGA to adopt zoning as a non-negotiable framework or risk deepening voter disenfranchisement. This reflects growing calls for internal reform within the APC in Plateau State ahead of upcoming elections.
