Moses Itauma Floors Franklin in Manchester, Puts World Title in Sight
Moses Itauma made a stunning statement in Manchester. The British-Nigerian heavyweight stopped Jermaine Franklin for the first time in the fifth round. Itauma rocked Franklin with a third-round knockdown. He then landed a crushing left uppercut and right hand to end the fight. The sold-out arena erupted as the 21-year-old improved to 14-0. After the win, Itauma called Franklin the “final piece of the puzzle” before a world title shot. He now eyes belts held by Oleksandr Usyk and Fabio Wardley. Born in Slovakia to a Nigerian father and Slovak mother, Itauma faced racism early in life. His family moved to England in 2008. He closed an unbeaten amateur career with 24 wins before turning professional.
