TUC Urges Lagos Government to Pay Gratuity to Retiring Workers

On International Workers’ Day at Mobolaji Johnson Arena, TUC Lagos State Council Chairman Abiodun Aladetan appealed to the state government to adopt the newly introduced federal gratuity policy for deserving workers. He described gratuity as both a noble recognition and social security measure that honours years of meritorious service. Aladetan praised the federal direction on gratuity payments and expressed confidence that Governor Sanwo-Olu will implement this progressive policy in Lagos. The chairman also defended the constitutional right to freedom of association, condemning hostile actions by some private employers. He called for the reinstatement of 74 dismissed staff at Global Plus Nigeria Ltd., stressing that “prosperity built on justice will stand the test of time.”
