Brighton Submit €34m Offer for Nigeria-Born Teen Defender Honest Ahanor
Brighton & Hove Albion have officially lodged a €34 million bid for 18-year-old defender Honest Ahanor, who was born in Nigeria and now stars for Atalanta. Atalanta signed Ahanor from Genoa last summer for €20 million, making him the second-most expensive 17-year-old in Italian football history. If the deal goes through, the Serie A side stand to make an instant profit. The teenager has featured 41 times for Atalanta’s senior team across all competitions, including nine UEFA Champions League appearances. His rapid rise also earned him a senior Italy call-up earlier this month. Brighton face competition but remain hopeful of convincing Atalanta, who aren’t under financial pressure after recent mega-deals.
