Ghana’s Black Stars suffered a 2-1 defeat to Croatia in Philadelphia, ending their World Cup 2026 Group L campaign in third place. Petar Sučić gave Croatia the lead in the 19th minute. Derrick Luckassen replied with his first goal for Ghana in the 73rd minute, but Nikola Vlašić headed in the winner ten minutes later. In the other fixture, England beat Panama 2-0 in New Jersey through goals by Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane to top the group. Agreed, a stronger defensive focus and quicker transition might have helped Ghana stay in the game longer.

Despite Luckassen's goal, the Black Stars conceded too early and never really controlled the midfield against a tough Croatian side.
