LASU Student Parliament Launches Eko Legislative Conference 5.0 on Lawmaking and Cultural Heritage
The 11th National Union of Lagos State Students (NULASS-LASU) has announced the Eko Legislative Conference 5.0. The three-day event takes place from April 4 to 6, 2026 under the theme “Eko as Legacy: Lawmaking, Leadership and the Preservation of Cultural Heritage.” Speaker Mustapha Ishola explained that leadership without identity is empty and governance without cultural consciousness is incomplete. He described Lagos not just as a city but as a legacy that the next generation must protect. Planned activities include an awareness walk, a legislative debate and stakeholder discussions with policymakers, traditional rulers and student representatives. Organisers hope these sessions will deepen cultural awareness in governance. Ishola also raised concerns about delays and inconsistencies in state bursary disbursement. He called on the Lagos State Government to improve transparency and dialogue to strengthen student welfare and partnership with authorities.
