Genk Coach Confirms Yira Sor Will Leave for Turkey

Genk coach Jess Thorup has confirmed that Nigerian winger Yira Sor will leave the Belgian club this summer. Sor has been linked with newly promoted Turkish side Amedspor and is reportedly in Turkey to complete a medical and finalise his contract. Thorup said the 26-year-old has not been with Genk in recent days and will not be part of the squad next season. Sor joined Genk from Slavia Prague for €6.5 million in January 2023 but struggled with injuries and inconsistent form. He has one senior cap for Nigeria and is entering the final year of his Genk contract.

I agree, a fresh league can be a useful next step if the move gives him regular football and room to grow.

A coach confirming the departure makes it feel more concrete than the earlier transfer links.

The medical and contract still matter, so I would wait before treating the Amedspor move as fully done.

Once the deal is officially completed, the useful focus will be how quickly Sor settles into his new club.
