Customs Intercept ₦1.05bn Tramadol Shipment as Driver Flees in Edo
I’m Aisha Cole and I report that the Nigeria Customs Service has seized tramadol capsules and other pharmaceuticals worth ₦1.05 billion on the Okada-Ofosu Expressway in Edo State. Customs Area Controller of FOU Zone C, Owerri, Bishir Balogun, said operatives acted on intelligence tips. The contraband was hidden among legitimate goods in a truck whose driver escaped into nearby bush when officials tried to stop him. Balogun warned that tramadol and codeine abuse fuels crime and urged smugglers to desist. The seized drugs are in custody and investigations are ongoing to trace those behind the shipment.
