Emir Sanusi II: Education Matters More Than Kingship
The 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, declared that kingship without education is worthless. He spoke during the Hawan Nasarawa Durbar at Government House in Kano, as part of the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations. Rejecting claims that court matters prompted his return to academics, he said his goal is to inspire others. He emphasised that knowledge strengthens leadership and commands respect. “Education must come before kingship,” he added. He also thanked the Kano State Government for recognising and honouring the emirate. “A king who acquires education attains greater dignity,” the emir stated.
