Netflix, Disney and DAZN Join Champions League TV Rights Race as UEFA Revenue Hits $5.9B

UEFA’s media rights deals for 2027–31 are set to boost annual revenue beyond $5.9 billion, up 20% from the current cycle. Major broadcasters in Europe and the Americas have already agreed, adding about $910 million and lifting total media revenues to over $3.8 billion. Streaming platforms are intensifying competition. Paramount+ holds rights in North America and parts of Latin America. Disney+ will cover Scandinavia, ESPN is in Latin America, while DAZN and Canal+ are expanding across Europe. A new joint venture, UC3, is helping UEFA package and sell rights more effectively, driving higher prices and stronger pricing control. More deals in Asia, Africa and the Middle East remain under negotiation, with further revenue growth expected. Over 90% of UEFA’s income goes to clubs via prize money and fees. While big teams stand to gain most, smaller clubs will also benefit — though experts caution the financial gap may widen.

Big streaming budgets don't guarantee better coverage and may just force fans to pay more for multiple subscriptions without added value.

To avoid overspending, consider shared streaming plans or local cable bundles that include key sports channels for Champions League matches.
