Enugu to Host 2026 Coal City Games With November 27 Opening and 20-Sport Lineup

Enugu to Host 2026 Coal City Games With November 27 Opening and 20-Sport Lineup

The National Sports Commission has confirmed the Coal City Games will run from November 27 to December 11 in Enugu. Teams will arrive on November 25–26 ahead of the opening ceremony on the 27th. These dates were finalised after a productive meeting between the NSC Director-General and the Enugu State Governor. Organisers praised the governor’s rapid facility upgrades. The DG said this festival will be the best-sponsored and best-funded in history, thanks to a landmark commitment from Premium Trust Bank. To keep costs manageable, the number of sports has been set at 20. Fifteen events are compulsory—including Athletics, Basketball, Football, Swimming, Wrestling and their para disciplines—while the host state will choose five more.

Isn't it odd to hype one sport before we even know the full lineup? Maybe wait until they release all 20 sports.

It's interesting they finalised dates so early, but squeezing 20 sports into two weeks might overstretch facilities and volunteers.

No be small thing to manage arrivals on the 25th then switch straight into opening ceremony the next day without resting.

Attendees might consider booking transport and accommodation well before November 25 to avoid last-minute price hikes.
