Court Schedules May 26 for DSS to Open Terrorism Case Against Malami and Son

Court Schedules May 26 for DSS to Open Terrorism Case Against Malami and Son

The Federal High Court in Abuja has set May 26 and June 15 for the trial in the Department of State Services’ amended terrorism charges against former AGF Abubakar Malami and his son Abdulaziz. The DSS prosecutor withdrew the original charge and filed an updated one alleging that in December 2025 the duo illegally possessed a Sturm Magnum firearm, live cartridges and expended rounds. Both defendants pleaded not guilty when the fresh charges were read to them. With no opposition from the DSS, Justice Abdulmalik allowed Malami and his son to remain on their existing bail conditions. The court will reconvene on May 26 to begin proceedings.

Are you curious about how splitting the hearings might influence the timeline of Malami's trial or its overall efficiency?

It's interesting that the DSS prosecutor withdrew the initial charge before filing an amended terrorism allegation against Malami and his son.

To avoid delay, both sides should agree on defined timelines and stick to them throughout the trial process.
