APC Clears Martins Amaewhule for 2027 House of Reps Primaries in Rivers

APC Clears Martins Amaewhule for 2027 House of Reps Primaries in Rivers

Rt. Hon. Martins Amaewhule, Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, has been screened and cleared by the All Progressives Congress to contest a Federal House of Representatives seat in the 2027 general election. The exercise took place at the APC secretariat under tight security and covered all National Assembly aspirants. Party officials say Amaewhule passed the screening without any issues, positioning him as a strong contender for the party’s ticket. Amaewhule defected from the Peoples Democratic Party in December 2025 amid internal crises. Since joining the APC, he has risen to prominence in the state’s party structure as the party builds its team for the upcoming polls.

Cleared by APC doesn't always mean true support; internal party rifts could still derail Amaewhule's bid before 2027.
