Poju Oyemade: We’ve Done Our Part as Pastors, Don’t Expect Us to Fix Nigeria Alone
During a recent sermon, the founder of Covenant Christian Centre argued that pastors have already contributed significantly to society. He urged Nigerians not to single out religious leaders as the only agents of change. He recalled how a prominent politician was surprised to find top bankers and executives serving as church volunteers. That same dedication, the politician noted, could transform the nation if applied to public affairs. Pastor Oyemade stressed that clergy are citizens first. He said solving Nigeria’s political and economic challenges requires collective effort. “Please leave us alone,” he added, “we are all citizens together.”
