Miracle in Australia: Rare Identical Quadruplets Born After High-Risk Pregnancy

Miracle in Australia: Rare Identical Quadruplets Born After High-Risk Pregnancy — 1 of 3
1 / 3

An Australian mother has welcomed naturally conceived identical quadruplets after an “extremely high-risk” pregnancy. The four girls were delivered by caesarean at 28 weeks and four days and now share a single placenta—a phenomenon doctors say is almost unheard of. The parents already had four children and were stunned when scans revealed four embryos from one fertilised egg. Specialists at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital monitored the mother in hospital from 25 weeks to manage risks and aimed for a 28-week delivery. All four babies—named Emily, Harriet, Catherine and Alexa—are thriving in neonatal intensive care. The mother has launched a fundraising drive to support her now ten-seater family vehicle needs, raising over A$37,000 so far.
