At Benue’s Golden Jubilee, Ooni, Sambo and Tor Tiv Urge Unity and Resilience
Traditional leaders and a former vice president have called for greater unity and inclusive governance as Benue State marks its 50th anniversary in Makurdi. The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, praised the hospitality of the Benue people and recalled his NYSC experience in the state. He encouraged Nigerians to stay optimistic about the country’s future despite security challenges. Former Vice President Namadi Sambo highlighted Benue as Nigeria’s food basket and commended the revival of abandoned projects under Governor Hyacinth Alia, including the rehabilitation of Taraku Mills. The Tor Tiv, Professor James Ayatse, applauded the resilience of the people and urged political leaders to pursue inclusive governance and unity to drive the state’s development.
