Arik Air Fraud Trial: EFCC Witness Admits No Funds Linked to Kuru or Omokide
A key EFCC prosecution witness in the Arik Air fraud trial admitted no funds were traced to ex-AMCON MD Ahmed Kuru or other defendants. Under cross-examination, Mr Bawa Usman Kaltungo confirmed that actions by Kamilu Omokide and Capt. Roy Ilegbodu were sanctioned by the AMCON Board. A letter from AMCON to the EFCC chairman validated their decisions on Arik’s affairs. He also stated that proceeds from the NG Eagle transaction went directly to AMCON and not to any individual. Mr Omokide, who held a share in the special purpose vehicle, received no personal benefit. Some EFCC documents were supplied by third parties and lacked independent verification. The defence questioned why AMCON itself faces no charges and why criminal counts proceeded despite no funds being traced to the accused. Justice Dada adjourned the trial to June 25 and July 7, 2026 for further cross-examination.
