Ekpo Praises Eagles’ Quick Play in 2-2 Draw with Poland

Ekpo Praises Eagles’ Quick Play in 2-2 Draw with Poland

Former international Friday Ekpo commended the Super Eagles after their 2-2 friendly draw with Poland. Moffi opened the scoring in the 23rd minute and Onuachu converted a penalty in the 77th, but the hosts struck twice—including an equaliser on the stroke of half-time. In a post-match interview, Ekpo praised Nigeria’s quick play and control of possession under coach Eric Chelle. He said the team adapted well to the tactical setup but could have prevented Poland’s late equaliser by closing down more effectively. Next up for the Super Eagles is a friendly against World Cup-bound Portugal on June 10. These matches will be used to test tactics and new players ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

What adjustments do you think the Super Eagles should make to maintain that quick attacking style against tougher opponents next time?

Are you suggesting they switch formation or add fresh legs to keep the pace against compact defences?

It seems odd that they conceded right before half-time despite starting so energetically in the first half.

I'm not entirely convinced a friendly draw says much about their tournament readiness, especially against a side fielding experimental line-ups.

Focusing on defensive coordination from set-pieces should be a priority in training before their next international fixture.
