Omoni Oboli’s Emotional Tribute to Alex Ekubo and Generous Donation to His Family
Nollywood star Omoni Oboli took to social media to honor her late friend and colleague, Alex Ekubo. She shared a heartfelt message on Instagram, saying “the memory of the righteous is blessed” and urging him to rest well. To keep his legacy alive, Omoni dedicated the proceeds of her latest film to Alex’s family. She praised him for coming, seeing and conquering in his career and expressed how deeply she will always hold him in her heart. Several other industry veterans have also paid their respects. Pete Edochie recalled Alex’s plans for his 80th birthday. Ufuoma McDermott admitted regret over a missed message. Rita Dominic confessed her heartbreak, while Chiwetalu Agu remembered Alex as a passionate storyteller. Alex Ekubo passed away on May 11 after a battle with metastatic kidney cancer. He was laid to rest on June 18 in an emotional ceremony attended by many Nollywood personalities.
