1 / 2

Chelsea have confirmed four homegrown players will leave when their contracts expire on June 30. Defender Brodi Hughes departs after 13 years in the club’s academy, including a loan spell at AFC Wimbledon. Richard Olise also moves on after ten years at Cobham and a senior squad appearance in the UEFA Conference League. Midfielder Sam Rak-Sakyi exits after making four first-team appearances in Europe. Finnish forward Jimi Tauriainen, on Chelsea’s books since 2020 and once on the bench for the Carabao Cup final, is the fourth player to go. These departures come as Xabi Alonso prepares to begin his tenure at Stamford Bridge.

It's surprising they'd release Brodi Hughes after thirteen years in the academy just as Alonso takes charge in the senior squad.
