Nnamdi Kanu Formally Withdraws Ifeanyi Ejiofor’s Authority to Represent Him and IPOB

Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), says he has formally ended Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor’s role as his personal lawyer. In a July 22, 2026 letter reportedly written from Sokoto Correctional Centre, Kanu said Ejiofor had already been verbally dismissed. He added that the letter was formal confirmation that the lawyer should no longer represent him, his family or IPOB. Kanu also withdrew any authority previously given to Ejiofor to speak or act for IPOB. He directed the lawyer to stop issuing statements, granting interviews, posting on social media or appearing in court as counsel for him or the group. The letter further warns against the disclosure or use of confidential information obtained during the legal retainer, stating that any breach could lead to disciplinary action or other legal remedies.
