NYSC DG Calls Corps Members to Adopt Savings Culture and Entrepreneurship
The NYSC Director-General, Brig.-Gen. Olakunle Nafiu, has urged corps members to save from their monthly allowance and develop multiple income streams. He made the call in Abuja ahead of the programme’s 53rd anniversary. Nafiu highlighted the SAED scheme as a platform for building financial discipline. Corps members receive training in small business development, digital economy opportunities and remote work for global organisations. More than one million corps members have registered businesses with the Corporate Affairs Commission through NYSC initiatives. A new partnership with an enterprise centre at Pan-Atlantic University will digitalise entrepreneurship training across all states. NYSC Ventures now runs farms, bakeries and water factories where members gain practical industry experience. Plans for a NYSC Trust Fund are underway to strengthen skills acquisition, ICT infrastructure and support for viable start-ups after service.
