Tinubu Approves New Omu Aran Battalion to Strengthen Security in Kwara

President Bola Tinubu has approved the establishment of a new army battalion in Omu Aran, Irepodun Local Government Area, Kwara State. This deployment will boost troop numbers and military assets to intensify operations against banditry, kidnappings and terrorism. Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq expressed gratitude to the President and Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, for swiftly processing the request. He also acknowledged the role of the National Security Adviser’s office and other agencies in ongoing counterterrorism efforts. The announcement comes amid growing unrest in communities such as Babanla in Ifelodun LGA, where residents fear that armed gangs continue to operate freely despite previous security operations. Recent attacks have left one person dead and another abducted, heightening calls for stronger protection measures.
