APC Clears President Tinubu for Primaries Without Fresh Screening

The APC National Working Committee has waived all screening requirements for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the party’s upcoming primaries. At its 188th meeting, the committee invoked its powers under Article 13.4(xiii) and (xiv) of the APC Constitution to grant special waivers in the party’s best interest. This decision deems President Tinubu as already screened and eligible to contest without a fresh appearance. The NWC cited strong endorsements from the Progressive Governors Forum, members of the National Assembly, and delegates at the APC National Summit as reasons for the waiver. The committee noted that Tinubu was rigorously screened before the 2022 presidential primaries, making another review redundant.
