Man United Eye Arsenal’s Lewis-Skelly as Surprise Left-Back Option

Man United Eye Arsenal’s Lewis-Skelly as Surprise Left-Back Option

Manchester United are exploring Arsenal defender Myles Lewis-Skelly as a potential summer signing. The Red Devils need a new wide defender with Luke Shaw entering the final year of his contract. United have also scouted Newcastle’s Lewis Hall and Eintracht Frankfurt’s Nathaniel Brown. Lewis-Skelly signed a long-term deal at Arsenal last year but has struggled for starts this season. After a breakthrough 2024–25 campaign, the 19-year-old has been limited to a rotational role under Mikel Arteta. He has made just 12 starts and provided four assists in all competitions this season. His reduced playing time has also seen him miss out on England senior call-ups. Instead, he has been named in the Young Lions squad alongside Ethan Nwaneri.

Lewis-Skelly's senior appearances remain limited at Arsenal, yet United are reportedly highly interested in securing him this summer.

I'm not convinced a youngster without Premier League consistency can fill Shaw's shoes next season.

United should consider securing urgent backup now and let Lewis-Skelly develop gradually rather than thrust him into the starting XI.
