Lagos State Unveils Alternative Learning Paths to Bridge Skills Gaps
At the 2026 Continuing Education Stakeholders’ Meeting, the Lagos State Government pledged to widen access to education beyond conventional classrooms. It will leverage Continuing Education Centres and tutorial hubs to bridge skills gaps and enhance employability. Officials noted that alternative learning platforms have already produced accomplished professionals, including academics who succeeded without formal secondary education. They cited the example of a university registrar who passed his GCE through private tutorials before rising to a professorship. The state plans to strengthen quality assurance through robust supervision and monitoring. It will also invest in AI readiness and digital tools across tertiary institutions. Out-of-school youth and adults can now pursue flexible programmes to improve their qualifications and career prospects in Lagos.
