Tinubu Hails Prof Abiola Odejide at 80: Nigeria’s Pioneer in Children’s Literature

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has sent warm wishes to Professor Emeritus Abiola Odejide as she celebrates her 80th birthday. The president praised her pioneering contributions to children’s literature in Nigeria and her service in higher education. Professor Odejide was the first female Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) at the University of Ibadan and the country’s first professor of children’s literature. She is also a Fellow of the Nigerian Academy of Letters. In his tribute, President Tinubu highlighted her global repute in English and literary studies. He applauded her gender advocacy, cultural development work, and commitment to nation-building, wishing her good health, peace, and fulfilment in the years ahead.
