Kano’s Ballot Box Silenced APC’s Online Obituary

For months, analysts and social media pundits declared the APC dead in the North. They predicted 2027 was already decided. But in Dawakin Kudu/Warawa Federal Constituency, Kano voters showed up and delivered over 35,000 votes for the APC candidate. The nearest challenger barely passed a few hundred. This result exposed the gap between loud online narratives and organised democracy. Hashtags and outrage cannot replace campaign structure or actual votes. If the opposition wants change, it must focus on mobilising supporters—not just manufacturing excuses or tweets.

What factors do you think led Kano voters to unexpectedly boost the APC candidate, despite analysts declaring the party dead in the North?

I agree, strong grassroots outreach and local issues often shape outcomes more than analysts predict.

It's striking how local dynamics in Dawakin Kudu/Warawa defied broader predictions about the APC's collapse in northern politics.

It feels premature to hail an APC revival when opposition parties were divided and local turnout quirks likely shaped those 35,000 votes.

This result shows how critical door-to-door campaigns remain; all parties should invest more in local outreach ahead of 2027.
