Tobi Amusan Targets Third African 100m Hurdles Gold in Accra
Tobi Amusan is set to chase a third African women’s 100m hurdles crown at the 2026 African Senior Athletics Championships in Accra. The action begins at the University of Ghana, and Amusan starts as overwhelming favourite after her past continental successes. The world record holder claimed a memorable double in Asaba 2018 and repeated as hurdles champion in Mauritius 2022. She withdrew from the 2024 individual hurdles but still helped Nigeria win relay gold in Douala. Facing homegrown rivals Adaobi Tabugbo—fresh from a 12.87s personal best—and Janet Sunday, who posted 13.67s at the AFN Golden League, Amusan will look to reclaim her title. Heats kick off today at 5:30pm, with the final slated for tomorrow at 4:45pm.
